Postcard from a Brooklyn Bridge sunrise
One of my 2012 resolutions was to see more sunrises. Even though 2012 has long since come and gone, the simplicity of that statement continues to motivate me to wake up a little earlier and watch the day come in.On New Year’s Eve, I woke up to my alarm clanging at 6am. I brushed my teeth and bundled up, and then headed out into the stillness of the dark. I rode my bike across the Williamsburg Bridge, reveling in being the only cyclist on the streets. I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge as the sun rose, thoroughly enjoying the views and the empty pathways. I ended up at Brooklyn Bridge Park, watching the sun slowly illuminate Manhattan’s skyscrapers. And then I biked back to Williamsburg, and was settling in to read the paper at my favorite coffee shop by 8:30am. It was a magical, intentional, beautifully rewarding morning to end 2014.
