Postcard from Santa Cruz
Whenever friends from home ask me about my life in St Kilda, I describe it as a beachy and laid-back suburb right outside of ultra-cool and urban Melbourne–like a Santa Cruz that’s a 20-minute tram ride from the center of the city, to put it in Northern California terms.
While I miss Whole Foods, seals and the Giant Dipper, I love the convenience of a beach town within view of a major metropolis. Even though I’m adoring life in Melbourne, I couldn’t help but reminisce a bit about seizing sunny days in Silicon Valley by living like a tourist.
