Postcard from ACDC Lane
Wandering in Melbourne may be one of my favorite activities. The city’s neatly ordered grid system makes it nearly impossible to get lost (and fondly reminds me of the A to Z by 1 to 16 grid of my hometown of Sacramento). However, the street art of myriad laneways and alleys spice up the straight and corporate streets. After an afternoon at Fitzroy Gardens, I stumbled across ACDC Lane. The urban paper- and grafitti-covered brick was a far cry from the sun-soaked stretches of green just meters away, a clear contrast that reminded me why I love living in Melbourne. Fun fact: ACDC Lane was named in 2004 as a tribute to the Australian rock band because ACDC lived and wrote their first two albums in Melbourne.
