Postcard from Ko Phi-Phi
It’s easy to see why Ko Phi-Phi has been exploited as a backpacker heaven: it’s the perfect paradise backdrop for a multitude of sins. Palm trees sway as reggae beats rock, bicycles navigate the narrow unsealed roads and the sky bursts into brilliant colors as the sun sets over the sea.
It’s a far cry from the overcast and gray locales that most British backpackers are used to: Ko Phi-Phi is everything you could ask for in a tropical island, which is why it’s a shame many people only experience it buzzed or hungover.
Looking over Ko Phi-Phi from the viewpoint.
Deserted Tohko Beach is just waiting on the other side of a sweaty hike through the jungle.
The Rock Backpackers was bare-bones-bordering-on-disgusting (I do NOT recommend the 16-bed dorm) but its saving grace was the outdoor bathroom. It’s hard not to smile when you wake up to brush your teeth with a backdrop like this.
