All of the exciting things happening in July
I don’t feel like I had a chance to catch my breath in June, between a whirlwind birthday trip to Turkey and my yoga teaching final. Now that July is here, I’m determined to get back to some healthier practices: daily meditation, cooking at home, regular yoga classes, freelance writing.
And I’m also so excited about so many things on deck! Here are a few of the big ones:
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m this week’s featured photographer on the Conde Nast Traveler Instagram account. @CNTraveler will be sharing select images of my recent trip to Turkey on their account. It’s amazing to be working with such an iconic brand: my roommate gave me a subscription to the newly designed print CN Traveler for Christmas, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite pieces of mail. Head over to @CNTraveler for a look!
Honestly, the reason I’m most excited about July 1: Mercury goes out of retrograde! If you’re into astrology, you recognize that it’s a been a tough slog the past few months. And because I am loosely into astrology (Gemini!), I’m even more stoked to be having a reading with one half of the famous AstroTwins today. Even though my boyfriend refers to it as all being found on bullshit.org, I’m stoked to find out what the stars have in store for me.
I’m also planning on taking part in The Everygirl’s 30-Day Challenge: 30 Days of Social Media Free Socializing! I hate our culture of texting at the table or checking our phone constantly, but I’m SUPER guilty of Instagramming in the midst of social events or keeping my phone on the table. So! This month, I’m going to try and change some of that behavior and pay more attention to the present moment and the people I’m with.
Even though I won’t be leaving the country this month, I’m very excited to have two weekend escapes with my boyfriend and his family. We’re heading upstate to a house with a POOL (!!!) for 4th of July: plenty of eating, tennis playing and golfing is in store. And in a few weeks, we’ll be going to a lakehouse in the Berkshires for more of the same–but add in swimming in the lake! Other than that, I’m dogsitting my favorite pooch, gardening and BBQing in our courtyard and going to plenty of outdoor movies.
My main goals for July: work on my handstand EVERY DAY (because practice might not make it perfect in a month…but it should make it better!) and finish my Artifact Uprising book of my travels to Turkey (because it’s always easier and more fun to finish it right after a trip).
Happy July! What are your plans this month?
