Sneak peek at safari in South Africa
Although I’m still traveling in South Africa, I wanted to share a little Cameo I made of our time on safari. Prior to this trip, going on safari had never been a bucket list item of mine.

However, we started off our trip with a few days at the Nelson Mandela Centre for Reconciliation (literally Nelson Mandela’s vacation house, where he hosted people like the Clintons and Oprah NBD), located on the Shambala Game Reserve. This 33,000-acre game reserve is home to lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, hippos, elephants, impalas, warthogs, wildebeest and ostriches—and many others. We were lucky enough to see almost all of them!
It was such an incredibly cool experience, and completely and utterly different than seeing animals in a zoo. One of the things that struck me the most was being able to see how several different species interact in the wild. Although we did see a cheetah chase down an impala for breakfast (and just barely miss it!), so many of the animals just hang out together. I’m also now obsessed with warthogs: they’re like the pugs of safari!
We’re currently staying at the gorgeous Prana Lodge on the Wild Coast, and then heading to Capetown for the weekend. Capetown is the one place that I wanted to visit above all else in South Africa, so I’m very excited to end this trip with a colorful and beach-y bang. Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Snapchat (cestchristine) to see what we’re getting up to.
Visit South Africa kindly invited me on this trip; however, all opinions are my own.
