Postcard from Table Mountain
If you want the best view of Cape Town: you go up to Table Mountain! On a clear day–which is not always guaranteed, since low-hanging clouds often cancel out any visibility from the top–the plateau on top of Table Mountain affords epic views of the Cape Town city center, the Camps Bay beaches, Signal Hill and the South Atlantic Ocean. And in fun local tips, since Table Mountain completely dominates the Cape Town skyline: it also makes it super easy to orient yourself in the city. Since you can see it basically no matter where you are in the city center, you can always navigate yourself easily toward Table Mountain and away from the waterfront, and vice versa.
You can actually hike and/or rock-climb up the side of Table Mountain: such an amazing way to experience the outdoors without having to leave the perks of city living! OR you can do as we did (and most tourists) and take the aerial cableway: it opens at 8am, closes at 8pm and costs about $15 round-trip. I definitely recommend getting there early, especially on a nice day: the line just gets longer and longer as the day goes on. You can also buy tickets online in advance to make the process a bit more efficient. It’s easy to spot dassies: the rock badgers are Table Mountain’s unofficial mascot, and love lazing in the sunshine on the cliffs. What’s your favorite photo of Table Mountain?
