One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!  Prince at the Vimeo officesIf you have been following me on Snapchat this week, it’s no secret that I am Prince-sitting! He’s one of the greatest dogs to take care of: super chill and extremely well behaved and wants to play fetch all day long. I took him into work a couple of days, and my coworkers just loved him–and he loved having so many people around who wanted to play fetch with him. Because of said dog-sitting, we had a very laid-back week–which was so needed after our awesome whirlwind weekend in Portland.

Chelsea Piers Golf Center in New York City

New York City

It’s golf season! One of the greatest things about my office is that I’m right across the street from Chelsea Piers Golf Club: I keep my golf clubs at the office so that I can go hit balls on my lunch break. I didn’t go quite as much as I wanted to last summer, but I’m hoping to be more consistent this year. I kicked it off with a golf lesson: it was a good reminder of how I can improve my stance and grip, and made me feel much more confident about going on my own. My goal is to be able to play 18 holes this summer–without getting frustrated or bored. All the Single Ladies book on my balcony  All the Single Ladies book on my balcony

Reads

My current book: All the Single Ladies: Unmarried Women and the Rise of an Independent Nation. Thoroughly enjoying it! I’m definitely partial to a good feminist read, and this one is no exception. If you read this article and find yourself nodding along: you might want to check out the book version.

Blue Apron meal in New York City

Eats

My new trick to survive the day after a red eye: work from home if possible, and order a Blue Apron or Fresh Direct delivery to arrive that afternoon. It makes life so much easier to automatically have groceries for dinner that evening and breakfast the next day–and after a weekend away, I usually don’t feel like ordering delivery. We had three Blue Apron meals this week, and this one was our favorite: Za’taar chicken and couscous with asparagus and scallions, topped with a lemon compote.Tulip garden in Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Blooms

My Brooklyn Botanic Garden membership is easily the best $50 I’ve spent this year–especially now that cherry blossom season is (almost) officially here! I popped in before work one day just to see the perfect-peak tulips and the pre-bloom cherry trees. It feels like such an escape from the city even if it’s just for 20 minutes: birds chirping, empty spaces, so many flowers. I’m just so excited to enjoy it all year!Cherry trees in Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Tonight, I’m inordinately excited for a haircut (+ conditioning treatment!) and a Commodore spicy chicken sandwich. And tomorrow, I’m speaking at Lovely Happenings about my favorite places to Instagram in NYC–use code LHSPRING for 30% if you’re interested!
