Postcard from Brooklyn Botanic Garden (in the spring)

Postcard from Brooklyn Botanic Garden (in the spring)

Without a doubt, the best $50 I’ve spent this year was on a membership to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden: it’s opened me up to a whole world of blooms! Although it’s free on Tuesdays and Saturday mornings, it’s been great to have the freedom to go any day–especially now that I live about a 10-minute bike ride (or very direct 10-minute bus ride) away. Cherry blossoms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden in springAnyway, I have thoroughly been enjoying my visits so far–even though it could be argued that I joined at the peak time of the year. First daffodils, then tulips, then magnolias, then cherry blossoms! And next up, I’m excited for lilacs and bluebells and roses. I have grand visions of heading there on a sunny day and setting up with a book and a mason jar of lemonade (or maybe white wine?) under a tree on the cherry esplanade and treating the entire garden as my personal backyard. And I’ve already had two friend dates here, where we meet and wander around the flowers instead of spending money on coffee or a drink. Moral of the story: I absolutely love it, and I can’t wait for more!
