Of the moment // 6.17.16
One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend! What a whirlwind week! We got home from our Aruba puppy-moon on Sunday night, and I was prepping for a travel-free summer…and then I got to work to Monday morning and found out that I’m on a panel at Cannes Lions next Friday (!). A little overwhelmed at how we’re going to swing it, but I’m so excited for the puppy AND so excited to go back to France AND so excited for the chance to speak about branded entertainment on a panel–it’s a nice change from speaking about travel and my own personal life. It’s all too much of a good thing!
Streets
There are quite a few Love Walls scattered across New York City now, but I adore this one next to Cafe Gitane in NoLita (one of my favorite little spots for a date with a girlfriend). It’s just so bright and colorful, and a nice backdrop to the Citi Bike station out front.
Eats
I’m back to being super obsessed with sweetgreen: best salad in the city, especially when it’s chock-full of summer produce. Even when the line is outrageously long, it moves pretty fast–and the price point is reasonable, especially when one is usually big enough to split into two meals. When I’m starving, I always go for the Harvest Bowl since it has a ton of protein and grains–but my current seasonal fave is Mexican Corn Elote Bowl. (Side note: not sponsored, I’ve just gone here several times in the past few weeks and I crave it constantly!)
Reads
The After Party is focused on a couple of friends in the Houston social scene in the 1950’s, and it’s an intriguing look at the oil-rich lifestyle that proliferated there during that time. There are a few mystery twists and turns to keep it interesting!
Words
“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” -Jane Austen [special thanks to the amazing friends who came out to Bed-Stuy to celebrate my birthday on a rainy rooftop!]
This weekend, we are welcoming our pug puppy home! We can’t wait to spend all day playing with her and adjusting to a new life as a family of three.
