Postcard from the streets of Cannes
I’m still in a bit of disbelief over the events in Nice last week. Six years ago on Bastille Day, I drank champagne and watched the fireworks with friends on that very same promenade. I was in Cannes just a few weeks ago, and I head back to Paris in a few more weeks: France is heavy on my brain. It seems impossible, and yet, just another day in the horrors of the news across the world. Despite the horrible attacks that have proliferated in France, it’s still one of my favorite places in the world. There’s a sense of magic when you wander through the streets and look at buildings that have been lived in for longer than America has been a country. The colorful shutters, window boxes full of flowers, cobblestone alleys: there’s romance in the details. I’m still daydreaming about my time there!
