Exciting news: we’re engaged!
Our big news from the weekend: we’re engaged!
My boyfriend and I spent Saturday afternoon at Prospect Park, which is one of our favorite places to go for a bike ride or a picnic. This time, though, my boyfriend suggested we try something new: a pedal boat ride around the lake (inspired by our rowboat adventure through Central Park), and then a walk to the Ravine (Brooklyn’s only forest!).
As we were walking toward the Ravine, we passed the gorgeous Boathouse and took in the view from Lullwater Bridge–where my boyfriend completely surprised me by getting down on one knee!
Right after it happened, I spotted my friend and amazing photographer Mat coming out of the bushes–not only did he capture the big moment, but he also brought a bottle of chilled champagne. 
We had a celebratory glass of bubbly by the lake, and then had a lovely wander through the Ravine–which really does feel like you’re in a beautiful forest far from the chaos of the nearby Brooklyn streets. Gertie didn’t come along for the day because it was so hot and humid (she was enjoying a lovely air-conditioned nap at home), but I already can’t wait to go back with her for a walk through the Ravine.
It was an absolutely lovely day, made even better by a surprise “end of summer” party with several of our friends at a bar that evening.
