Of the moment // 9.23.16
One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend! It’s been such an epic week of sunsets in New York City! The only sad part is that they’re getting earlier and earlier, but they were such a wonderful backdrop for a few quiet nights at home. After a long weekend back home in Sacramento and a red-eye back to the city, I wanted all of the relaxing, healthy meals and pug-snuggles that I could get.
Wanderlust
Remember last year when I went to Wilderness Field Notes, aka grown-up autumn camp–complete with whiskey tastings, canoe rides and lakeside foliage? I’m so excited to be going back October 14-16! I’m especially looking forward to the movie that will be showing under the stars and next to the bonfire on Friday night this year! If you’re in the tri-state area, there are still some spots open (and you can get 15% off with the code CESTCHRISTINE).
Reads
Whenever I go home, I always tear through a stack of mystery paperbacks from my mom’s bookshelf. I read Missing You and The Woods by the pool last weekend: they kept me guessing until the end! (Also: it’s so nice to trade in the “fancy new fiction with an Instagrammable cover” genre every once in a while :)
Looks
The past week, I had three separate friends comment on how good my skin looked–seriously one of the best compliments! Some of the credit has to go to my facial at Heyday, but I also recently started using Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint and it’s perfect for that fresh and flawless look. I’m obsessed!
Words
“Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.” -Elizabeth Lawrence [I think this also applies to sunsets!]
This weekend, we’re celebrating a wonderful friend’s wedding in Jersey City!
