Of the moment // 10.7.16
One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend! We are FINALLY into the part of fall that I love: crisp air and sunny skies and no humidity and the sun still being out when you leave work! Last week was gray and overcast and a little bit depressing, and winter is getting a little too close for comfort. But for right now, I am all about enjoying hot coffees in the morning without wearing gloves and enjoying the swirly pink sunset on my walk/bike home from work and online shopping for big comfy sweaters (and puppy raincoats and snowboots) that aren’t fully necessary yet.
Blooms
It’s pretty rare that I buy white flowers (I’m more partial to bright pink tulips or yellow daffodils or really anything for a pop of color) but I swooned over this simple arrangement in Maman in Greenpoint. The whole cafe has this very simple but very beautiful vibe that I just loved. Already can’t wait to go back!
Eats
We had some errands to run in Greenpoint last weekend, so I decided to head over early for a yoga class at Lucent (which was great!). I had a little bit of time to kill afterwards, so I stopped by The Brooklyn Label for a solo brunch (mostly so that I could read The Mothers, which I finished in 24 hours because I absolutely couldn’t put it down). The restaurant is French-owned, and totally feels like a little Parisian brasserie in Greenpoint: I loved the tile floors and the hearty omelette and the strong coffee!
Streets
I squeezed in a barre class in NoLita before a launch party, and happened across one of my favorite murals during golden hour. It was one of those gorgeous 70-degree fall days and I’d just finished a lovely bike ride crosstown: these are the sorts of days when it’s hard not to feel like New York really is a city of dreams!
Pug Life
Gertie and I popped over for lunch at Google with my friend Sarah and her adorable Frenchie Simba, and it was what smushed-face puppy dreams are made of. Gertie instantly fell in love, and the two of them got along swimmingly while Sarah and I caught up: I see a lot of dog-friendly lunch dates in our future!

This weekend, we’re heading to Scribner’s Catskill Lodge! The property just opened on Thursday after extensive renovations, so I’m extra excited to check it out. Bonus: apple picking, brewery hopping and foliage hikes WITH GERTIE!
