My list of things-I-can’t-believe-I-still-haven’t-done-in-NYC
On Saturday night, I made a list of all the things I can’t believe I haven’t done yet in my four-and-a-half years of living in New York City: all the things that I’ve been meaning to do, but haven’t quite gotten around to. And then on Sunday, I went through the list and bought tickets, made reservations and sussed out what my friends might be interested in, too. It felt super productive and now I’m so excited for all of the adventures ahead! Since we don’t have any big travel plans for February, I booked a bunch of things for then–and honestly, I think that having so many fun plans might be the best way to beat the winter blues.I posted about it on Instagram yesterday, and a bunch of people were curious in what was on my list–so without further ado, here’s what I’m getting up to in the next few months (in no particular order)! If you have any tips or tricks for any of the below, I’d love to hear it.
A little tough since it’s only open during weekdays during work hours, but I’m hoping to squeeze in the one-hour tour after some meetings sometime when I’m in the city.
Reservations made for a ladies-who-lunch with my friend and former roommate!
A French movie at The Paris Theatre
That marble spiral staircase! I also just love browsing around hoity-toity department stores in the city.
Next time I swap out my gel (which honestly might not be for a while, I’m so committed to them), I want to have a late-night martini-and-manicure date with a girlfriend–it only costs $10.
Coney Island Ferris Wheel
I absolutely love Ferris wheels and I still haven’t been on the one at Coney Island! I’m going to save this until the weather improves, but I really want to have a proper boardwalk date–complete with rides and sugary treats.
Amateur Night at the Apollo
Planning a ladies night at the Apollo with my group of Vimeo girlfriends–it should be a fun little reunion!
I feel like this would be especially good to warm up on a chilly day!
6 Train – City Hall Station
Rumor is that if you sneakily stay on the local 6 train past the last stop, you go through New York’s very first (and very beautiful) subway station.
Second Avenue Subway
This is a new goal, but I want to make sure I take a ride down New York’s newest train and also explore all of the fancy stations.
We have tickets to see the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra’s 50th anniversary celebration! I’m actually really looking forward to a mid-week West Village date with live music.
New York City Ballet
Made plans for The Sleeping Beauty with a girlfriend–we actually saw The Brooklyn Nutcracker together, and I’m excited to go back to the grandeur of Lincoln Center! I went to New York City Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker the first winter I lived here, and it was incredible–I can’t wait to go back.
And a few things I’d love to go back and do again this winter: hot chocolate at City Bakery, high tea at Bergdorf Goodman, date night at the Comedy Cellar, sledding in Central Park!
What’s on your list in New York City? Is there anything you think I’m missing?
