I’ve been really leaning into my nerdy tendencies at home this week: my grand evening plans have mostly consisted of a) watching Jeopardy b) playing the daily Jeopardy skill on Alexa and c) playing a solo game of Bananagrams. I know, VERY cool.san diego travel blog, san diego lifestyle blog, lifestyle pug blog

It’s been really nice to have some low-key nights at home, and I’ve actually really been loving playing Bananagrams solitaire. I time myself to see how quickly I can use all of the pieces, but I’m also trying to challenge myself to use longer words. What I also really like about it is that it’s basically a set of time when I’m not checking my phone at all! And I’m such a huge fan of word games, but David is not…SO this is a great way for me to be able to play without relying on anyone else wanting to.

Reads

My friend gave me In Praise of Difficult Women for my birthday, and I’ve been surprised at how much I’ve been enjoying it! It’s a collection of little mini biographies on 29 “difficult women,” like JK Rowling, Coco Chanel, and Elizabeth Taylor. It has so many interesting anecdotes and fun facts, and it’s been a lovely little thing to read at the beach or before bed. And not going to lie: can’t wait to display this on my desk!

Podcasts

Planet Money is one of my go-to podcasts: any other fans? It was actually co-founded by the founder of the company I work for now (heyo Gimlet!), so I talk a lot about it when I’m pitching–but I truly love the premise! It’s basically stories about economics, but as if someone was telling you the story over a beer. I found the recent episodes on sand and Lebron James being underpaid super interesting!

Eats

Breakfast Republic is probably the most popular breakfast spot in San Diego (think two-hour waits at peak brunch times), and it’s been on our list to check out ever since we moved here. We FINALLY checked it out last weekend: got there around 8:30am on Saturday, and only had about a 15-minute wait to sit al fresco (with le Gert). The servings were enormous, and everything was decadent–we had the mashed potato omelette, strawberry and mascarpone French toast, a hulking California breakfast burrito, and took home enough leftovers for a second meal that day. The unlimited refills of cafe de olla were definitely my favorite part though! It was definitely good, but I think it’s a little overhyped: there are lots of places that do great breakfasts in San Diego!san diego travel blog, san diego lifestyle blog, lifestyle pug blog
